I owe this blog topic to my financial advisor, who suggested it recently.  After a few minutes looking at the subject online, however, I was overwhelmed with how many forms of entertainment there are today (Wikipedia lists well over a hundred), let alone how many forms have existed since prehistoric times and the thousands of years since.  So, my approach was to hit the high points, trying to represent the evolution of entertainment, along with evolution of humans and technology. After an introduction, defining entertainment, I will discuss the history of entertainment in historic periods, starting with prehistoric times, then ancient civilizations, the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, followed by the 18 th , 19 th , 20 th , and 21 st centuries.  I will finish with a list of the 20 most popular forms of entertainment today.
