HISTORY67 - Statue of Liberty

Everyone knows about the Statue of Liberty, right?  When my daughter in law Cinta Burgos suggested this topic, I thought I knew all about it.  But a little research convinced me otherwise - a lot of little-known aspects to the story.    So, I’m going to write about the history of the Statue of Liberty.   After a short introduction, I’ll cover the origin of the idea for the Statue of Liberty, then how the project got started, the history of the statue itself, and the pedestal is rests on, and the island site of the combined structure.   I’ll also talk about the Statue of Liberty’s dedication, and what’s happened after its dedication.   I’ll conclude with some interesting facts about the Statue of Liberty.
